hello, I'm Pikku. Let's make something.

Say what you want to make. Watch it come alive.

Pikku Studio OS is a free app for making real apps. Describe your idea in plain words, AI builds it, and you're clicking around in it on your own computer a moment later.

Free. It runs on your machine, and it's yours to keep.

The Pikku chameleon sits on a branch, holding a note that asks for a booking page, and points to a sketched app it just built."a booking page formy pottery class?"Wheel class · SatBookdone! try it

this is Pikku Studio

From an idea to a working app, in one sitting.

You don't need to know how apps are built. You need an idea and a few sentences. Pikku walks the rest of the way with you.

  1. 1

    Say it

Type what you want like you'd tell a friend. "A sign-up sheet for the allotment. Members pick a plot and I get an email."

  2. Watch it build

Studio's AI writes the app and shows it running while it works. Want the button green? Say so, and it changes.

  3. 3

    Use it for real

It's a working app, not a picture of one. Keep it on your laptop, or put it online when you're happy with it.

what sets it apart

Three things Studio does while you build.

  1. 1

Studio keeps a knowledge base for your app.

Pages in plain words that you and Pikku write and organise: what your app is for, who uses it and the choices behind it. They link to each other and you can search them. The AI builder reads them before it changes anything, so it builds from what you decided.

  2. 2

Scenarios test your app like a person would.

A scenario is a step-by-step description of what someone does in your app. It runs in a real browser, signed in as a test user, so you find what broke before anyone else does. The same steps can keep checking the live app.

The test users are your virtual users: stand-ins for the kinds of people who use your app, like a first-timer or someone in a hurry. They are given a goal, not the steps, and tell you in plain words where they got stuck. They visit your preview site, never your live one.

user guides written from the runs: to confirm

  3. 3

It speaks more than one language.

Studio comes in English, German and Arabic, and Arabic reads right to left with the layout turned to match. Your own apps can use more than one language too: a Translations screen lists the wording, and you can ask Pikku to add a language.

local first, always

Works on a plane. And in the shed with no signal.

Studio lives on your computer, not in someone else's cloud. The apps you make run right there on your laptop, and you put something online only when you decide to.

Private
Your apps and their data live on your own disk.
Quick
Your app answers from your own machine, not a server across the ocean.
Yours
Normal TypeScript files you own. No lock-in.
Unplugged
Trains, cabins, 30,000 feet. Studio and your apps keep working offline.

same Studio, three places to run it

Pick how you run it. Change your mind later.

Start on your own laptop. Move to a browser tab when you want to work with others. Bring it inside your network when the organisation needs it there. Dashed tags mark what we haven't settled yet.

Under the hood it's a TypeScript framework. Developers, this bit's for you.

the Pikku framework

Write a function once. It fits in wherever it lands.

A chameleon blends into any branch. A Pikku function does the same. Write your logic one time and wire it to HTTP routes, RPC, WebSockets, queue workers, cron jobs, MCP tools and AI agents, without copying it around.

Studio builds on the Pikku framework, so everything you make there is ordinary TypeScript you can open, read and change.

same function, new colours for every job

Types stitched from server to screen.

The types generated from your database and your functions flow all the way through the generated client to the interface, so a mismatch is caught before it ships.

One unbroken thread runs down through four stops in order: Database, Function, Client and Screen. A note says that if the database changes, the screen finds out at build time.DatabaseFunctionClientScreenchange the database, and thescreen finds out at build time

Carry it anywhere.

The same app runs serverless, on Cloudflare, or on a plain server you rent. Start on your laptop, choose a home later, and move house without a rewrite.

The Pikku core framework is MIT-licensed, and Pikku Studio OS is free and open core: the addon console and blocks are open. What Studio builds is normal TypeScript that belongs to you.
